| Personal History | Born to Se'lar and T'Val in 2349 on Vulcan. Both of her parents were academics at the Vulcan Science institute. She had the usual logical upbringing on the teachings of Surak. Which she embraced. Both of her parents expected her to join them at the Science institute and guided her into that path. However, T'laan wanted to explore other options and applied for Starfleet. T'laan's parents were frustrated but this and tried to block her application but were unsuccessful. T'laan thought their actions were illogical and based on emotion instead of what was best for T'laan and her development. Upon being accepted into the academy, she decided to pack her belongings and leave without telling her parents. This drove a wedge through their relationship. T'Laan joined the academy already academically bright. She was top of her classes on Vulcan and was ready to expand her knowledge. She excelled at the Sciences, and choose Science as her department of choice. However, she took extra educational classes in Engineering, Medicine and Security. Upon graduating from the academy, she was able to have her assignment of choice, however, with the war with the Dominion in full swing, T'Laan wanted to stay away from the frontline stating Vulcan's are pacifist and didn't want to join in Starfleets efforts against the Dominion. She chose work at Daystrom Institute and joined a scientific research team who were looking into micro wormholes. Once the war finished, T'Laan placed a transfer request in stating she wanted to further her career and knowledge within Starfleet. She was reassigned to the USS Alliance as her Chief Science Officer. |
