Making Progress:

It’s inevitable that at some point, if you stay in StarFleet, you will be assigned a post that says you did a good job, so here you go. A sweet posting somewhere to let your hair down. But for Lt. Mason, no such luck. She always seemed to go from one hotspot to another. And her newest posting was no different.

The USS Alliance is an Intrepid class ship with balls. And now she was the new Chief of Security and Tactical. There was no doubt in her mind that she could pull it off. She just hoped the Dominion War hadn’t tainted the area too much from the way she had remembered it the last time she visited DS9. So she took her time, tagged her boxes for transport, and headed out to say her good buys.

As she entered the lounge area, she realised someone had went overboard to make her feel good about leaving. All of her team mates were there and they seemed to be waiting for her. As the doors slid shut behind her, she was approached and handed a drink.

“Here you go LT. One Porn Star Martini. Just the way you like it.” Said Jarvis
“Thanks JJ, are you responsible for all of this?” She asked
“Well, if I do say so myself, I might be. But it’s not like I didn’t have help.” Said Ensign J. Jarvis. “Trust me, getting them together for you wasn’t hard.” Offered Jarvis
“Thanks my friend. I’m really gonna miss you.” Said Vicki as she lifted her glass and looked toward her team as they all raised their glasses to toast their colleague and friend.

“SPEECH SPEECH!” Yelled someone in the back of the room.

She lowered her drink and raised both hands in a gesture to say hold on, give me a minute. Then she took a deep breath and began.

“First off I want to thank you all for the memories and friendships we’ve formed over the last year and a half. You guys are amazing!” She said whilst squaring off to the room. “I’m going to miss you all. I’ve got my new posting as you know. But what you don’t know is I’m taking over as Chief of Security and Tactical on the USS Alliance and any of you who wish to join me at some point are welcome when your time comes to leave here, you all have a special place in my heart. Now, enough mush, drink up and have fun.” As she raised her glass again and they all toasted her in compliance.

8 hours later:
As Lt Mason took one last look around her room, she took a deep breath. Exhaled, and Executed an about face as she exited her quarters for the last time. This space had served her well. Now it was time to move on. She made her way to the shuttle bay where she would be taking a shuttle ride to DS9. She hoped she wouldn’t bump into any of her team, as she had already said her goodbyes, once there she would meet up with the Alliance, and get the next chapter of her life underway. She took a last look around. Turned and headed up the ramp of the shuttle and handed her transporter tags to the pilot who would make sure her gear was loaded. Once they were sorted, she took a seat and time to reflect on what was to come.

Shortly there after, they departed and she fell asleep. Only to be woken up sometime later to a gentle nudge on the shoulder from the shuttle pilot as they approached Deep Space 9. She looked out of the window and she could see the Space Station. More importantly she could see the USS Alliance as well. It shone like a new penny. That was going to be her new home for the next year or more. This brought a smile to her face as she grabbed her bag, stood up and headed over to the transporter.
She thanked the pilot, who transmitted her cargo list to the stations quartermaster. And she gave the thumbs up to engage the transporter. When the shimmering lights cleared, she was on the transporter pad of DS9.

According to her orders, she had 24 hours to check in with the CO. Perfect amount of time to do some light investigating of the Security on the Station and her ship. Plus like any other woman she ever knew, shopping was at the top of her list a good meal and possibly a real shower with actual water, before she reported to the Alliance.
